GOLF.

CAMBRIDGE V. H AMILTON. A number of Cambridge players visited Hamilton on Saturday afternoon to contest a series of foursome matches with representatives of the local club. Vietory rested with the Hamilton club, which, contrary to expectations, won somewhat easily. The visitors wore entertained at afternoon tea on the links by the lady members of the local Club. The following are the results Dr. and Mrs Douglas (Hamilton) beat Ross and Miss Willis (Cambridge) by 3 up. Mr Richardson and Miss Sheet (Cambridge) beat Mr and Mrs Matthew (Hamilton) by 4 up. Mr Dixon and Miss Brooks (Cambridge) beat Mr Gaze and Miss Parrer (Hamilton) by 9 up. Mr Shand and Mrs Bare (Hamilton) beat Mr Shaw and Miss Wells (Cambridge) by I up. Mr Turner and Miss Ranstead (Hamilton) beat Mr Walker and Miss Brooks (Cambridge) by 5 up. Mr Ross and Miss Rothwell (Hamilton) boat Mr Anderson and Miss Wells (Cambridge) by G up. During the afternoon Mrs Sure was particularly good in her putting; and, in starting for the second round, Miss Ranstead made a very fine drive from the toe.

Afternoon tea was provided by the local ladies.

The ladies of the Hamilton Club are presenting two prizes for competition—one for ladies and one for gentlemen. All matches for these prizes are to be played off by Wednesday, October I‘Jth. The handicaps will he declared shortly.
