Waikato Argus Oeeice, ’lbis Day. MESSRS DAVIS AND CO.’S HAM I ETON SALE.
Messrs Davis and Co. report as follows for their weekly sale:—Pigsfrom Os to 11s each ; poultry, a small supply- with good demand; potatoes, jES to X 3 10s per ton; rhubarb, Gd per bundle; O.S. chaff, 2s to 4s Gd per Back; bacon, 5d to Gd per lb; lot ol furniture, storekeeper’s stock of boots, clothing, drapery, etc,, at auction rates. Hack, X2 2s Gd. At the sale ot Mr Griffiths’ “ cosy corner ” shop, for removal, there was a large attendance. Bidding, which started at X2O, was very brisk, and the property was ultimately knocked down to Mr H. Hardley at XSL CAMBRIDGE STOCK SALE. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company (Limited) At our Cambridge monthly stock sale on Friday last, although the day was an exceedingly wet one, cattle were brought forward in very large numbers, the cattle and sheep pens again proving insufficient to hold the stock, the tour drafting yards bad to be brought into l use, which naturally delayed the sale V considerably. At the commencement competition was inclined to be dull for young stock, but improved as the sale proceeded, and all wore quitted at the hammer or before leaving the yards excepting two lines of young cattle. Good yearlings (mixed) realised from £2 16s to X 3 8s; yearling steers, X 3 to ■£3. Los; strong calves and yearlings (mixed), £2 2s to £2 10s; smaller sorts, g 3 to <£2 ; 18 months’ and 2-year steers, X 3 15s to X 4 4s; low-conditioned 2i and 3-year steers, X 5 2s 6d; quiet 2year heifers, £2 10s to X 4; quiet year- \ lino- heifers, X3Gsto X 3 12s Od; fresh cows and heifers, <£3 16s to X 4 19s; store cows, X2 to X2 15s; heifers in calf, At to A t 10s. The beef pens contained some prime light-weight steers, which were bought by our local butchers from £1 15s to XSlOs; fat heifers and young cows, £5 5s to XG 10s. The sheep advertised were a good lot, and all sold at good prices; GO fat ife*. Os, XJ. 3s Od; 80 fat and forward ; -es and wethers, 17s 9d; 00 hoggets, q. v go mixed store sheep, 10s Id. Ny stock offered in large numbers, a 3a f many of them poor-conditioned year-old heifers, and these were dull /sale.' All good well-grown heifers in Edition sold readily at from X 5 15s to i 10?; good cows at profit, X 6 to XS fdi; 2-year heifers, X4ssto X 5; backward heifers, X 4 7s Gd to X 5 ss. A large number of pigs offered, but were j- lower in price; those sold x-ealised from i: '9s to 15s. • ff “
