(BV TELKQKAPU—PRESS ASSOCIATION). ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES Auckland, This Day A labourer named John O’Connor, aged 50, hanged himself at Newmarket. The cause is unknown. He leaves a wife and four children. Christchurch, Last Night A fatal accident occurred at Green Park on Friday afternoon, Bertha Bearman, 13 years of age, being shot by her brother Leslie, about eight years. While the parents were away from home the boy got hold of a gun and cartridges. The gun was loaded, and while the children were playing it exploded, part of the girl’s head being blown off. Later. Leslie Beaman, the seven-year-old boy who shot his sister at Green Park, it is asserted, previously threatened to shoot an elder sister who had taken the gun away from him. The boy, however, regained possession of the weapon, and by some means also obtained a cartridge. An inquest is proceeding. Irene Harris, 12 years old, daughter of Mr John Harris, was injured in a collision between a motor-car and a tram on the Papanui-road on Friday. The extent of her injuries has not yet been ascertained, but she is unable to move.
John J, Bruce, aged 14, son of a labourer, when remounting a tram in Cathedral Square, was instantaneously killed.

A man named F. Charles was drowned in the Eangitikei River on Friday evening whilst crossing the wire suspension bridge near the township. In the Supreme Court yesterday judgment was entered by agreement of the parties for ,£75 in the case of Kerry v. Fake Craig, claim £5Ol on account of the death of the plaintiff’s brother while working with defendant on a baker’s oven, which collapsed. MUNICIPAL LOAN. Palmerston N., Last Night The Borough Council has decided to take steps to raise a loan of £4500 to complete the Municipal Opera House, for which the expenditure of £6OOO is already authorised by the ratepayers.
