PROBLEM IN DIVORCE. London, July 31. M. Constantininde, a Greek merchant, petitioned for divorce from the daughter of the late Stephen Rollie. The lady, who is very rich, obtained a divorce in Dakota, and married Dr. Lance. The jury found that the respondent and co-respondent and the petitioner were all guilty of miscouduct, and assessed the damages at £25,000. Mr Justice Jeune reserved judgment on the point whether the petitioner's adultery justified the dismissal of the petition.
ENGLISH CRICKET. London, July 31. At cricket Lancashire made 36S for the first wicket against Gloucestershire. Maclaren scored 204, and Spooner (not out) 168. In the match against Surrey, Hirst took six wickets for 25. In the cricket match Yorkshire v. Surrey, Yorkshire in the first innings made 254,' and Surrey scored 84 and 73. Hirst took ten wickets for 67 runs, and Rhodes ten for 81. The bowling was changed throughout.
CHANGE IN THE INDIAN ARMY. London, July 31. It is repotted that Lord Kitchener has submitted to the Government a scheme for the great modification of the Indian Native Army. The Princes have promised their assistanse, and the success of the project is regarded as assured.
EIOTING IN RUSSIA. St\ Petersburg, July 31. The riotars attempted to stop a train at Mikhelobo station en the Tiflis-Batoun lice by stoning it, and firing with revolvers. The soldiers, who were summoned, then fited on them, killing ten and wounding 18.
LIEUTENANT WITTCN. Capetown, August 1. A petition from Australian residents at the Cape to remit Lieutenant Witton's sentence in connection with the Bush Veldt murders were refused by the Imperial authorities.
