THE LATE MR. JOHN CUNDY.

Odr Pirongia correspondent writes : Once more has death removed one of our settlers in the person of Mr John Cundy. Deceased served throughout the Waikato war in the 2nd Waikato Regiment under the command of the late Colonel Haultain. On the disbandmeut of that Regiment Mr Cundy took to farming at Ohaupo, where he resided until some four or five years since, when he sold hia farm and retired to live privately on a property he purchased here. Mr Cundy, from his quiet and kind disposition, was universally respected by all who knew him, and his widow and daughters have general sympathy in their bereavement. Mr Cundy, before his decease, expressed the hope that some of his old comrades would attend his funeral. That was one of his last wishes, and I hope as many as possible of those left will attend in accordance with that request. The funeral will take place on Friday at 2.30 p.m.
