Cattle : At the Newmarket yards on Tuesday there was a good muster of s ick of all descriptions. Beef was in full supply, the quality • being excellent. Ox sold up to 26s per 1001 b; cow, 19s to 235. Fat steers made from £6 5a to £l4 2s 6d : fat cows, £5 10s *& £9 2s G'd. Dairy cows, of which an extra large nnmber was yarded, sold from £6" to £IO;8toredo, £2 15s to £3 10s: calves, £1 16s to £2 9s. Sheep were yarded in average numbers at Newmarket on Tuesday, and for those of good quality. late advanced prices were maintained. Fab wethers sold from 9s 6d to 20s 9d ; fat ewes, 8s 6d to 16s 9d ; hoggets, of good quality, 8a 6d to Vis 6d ; other sorts, 5s to 7s 6d. Pigs: Scarce ; porkers made from £1 9s to £2"lss; weaners, 123 Gd to 193 6d. On Friday we held a clearing sale of live and dead stock on account of Mr Mat. Enright, en (the Ake Ake Swamp Waiukii. The cows realised from £5 10s to£loeach. Hides: "We submitted a good catalogue, competition being keen for all offered, but there is no alteration in prices to report. We quote : prime ox, 6;Jd to BJd ; extra prime to 7-Jd ; stout ox, sjd to 9sd ; ligbt, 4-Jd to s|d ; cow, 4Jd to 4{jd ; calf, 2-Jd to 4-jd ; horse, 3s to ss. Sheepskins: Bsst batchers', 2s 6d to 33 ; other lines ao cording to condition. Tails, Is 5d per doz. Uair, lOd to Is 1-Jd per lb. Bones, 4s 6d per cwt. Maize: Markst very weak, although no shipments have been received this week, operations were air most nil, as buyers elected to wait further shipments in anticipations of a decline in price. Nominal value 3s 6d on wharf. Oats : Slow of sale at 2s 2d c.i.f. Wheat: Easier, sales are being made at 3s 9d e.i.f. Chaff: Supplies are more plentiful, but the market is firm at £4 10s and £5 os ex Btore for local and Southern respectively. Potatoes : Very dull of sale and supplies heavy. Present price £3 10s to £4 5a ex store. Dairy produce: Butter, factory is dull of sale, onprecedently large stocks being held and holders are anxious to quit. Separator of good quality is still meeting with ready sale up 9Jd. Cheese : No alteration in prices to report; mediums, 6d, loaf, 6.1-d ; large size in short supply.
