MISCELLANEOUS. London, June 23. The Cunard Steamship Company has withdrawn from the passenger rates agreement of the Atlantic Shipping Combine, alleging unfair treatment. Reuter's Agency reports that 26.000 Orange Colony burghers have sworn allegiance, only a few abstaining. The Governor of Malta, under instructions from the Home authorities, has reduced the elected members of the Council to eight and increased the official members to nine. London, June 24. Mr Chamberlain has reimposed the Maltese constitution of 1887 owiDg to the elected members of the Council insisting that children should be taught Italian while the Government left parents to choose either Italian or English. The Times says that since the compromise over the Land Bill has been accepted by the Nationalists, it is expected the session "will end on August 12th. . A Divorce Bill introduced by Lord Russell was negatived in the House of Lords on the motion for second reading without a discussion. The Government dissenting, the House of Commons agreed that children should not be licensed to appear on the stage under ten years of age. Berlin, June 25. The newspaper National Zeitung S3ys Mr Pierpont Morgan's shipping trust has proved a failure, and there is no danger of\the Americanisation of German shipping. Belgrade,- June 23. A cloud burst and destroyed the village of Zenot, causing the loss of 38 lives. Paris, June 23. It is stated that M. Ex-President Cleveland denies that he wishes to re-enter publio life, and discourages the movement in favour of his nomination for the Presidency.
