TE KOWHAI.
The settlers and Mr J, Giliott, together with three members of the Newcastle Road Board, inspected the proposed new road to Te Rkpn, and found that a very desirable road can be obtained at a very small coat. This road will meet a longfelt want, as it will place the settlers within two miles of the railway, instead of nine to Ngaruawahia or ten to Hamilton. The proposed new road will bring Te Kowhai within 51, miles of Hamilton, and not a hill on the whole road, Mr Gillelt wiil attend the Board’s meeting on the Bth of January to offer the land for the said road. There is one little trouble in the way. and that is that a portion of the new road will he in the Newcastle District and a portion in the Hamilton Hiding. No doubt they will be asked to throw in that portion of land to the Newcastle Riding, or make, the road, as Die Council lias interest ia ihe l road, and Jam inclined to think they will hand Ihe Board over that portion of land and gel clear of the trouble and expense. However, whichever way the road is got, it will he one of the greatest boons the district ever received. (Own correspondent.)
