Tub Waikato Argus Office. This Day. MR C. W. PERCY’S CLEARING SALE. On Thu;a lay Mr Hunter offered the whole of Mr Percy’s stock and imp emen's by auction, at the homes cad, W ai Valley, Puktrimu, and there was a large attendance of settlers from all over the Waikato, and even from Te Aroha un i Auckland. The competition was keen for everything but the sheep and two and three ■ year - old steers. Tor draught mares and geldings and dairy cows the bidding was very spirited, but lire list mentioned were exceptionally good and a credit to the seller. Tim farm implements were also exceptionally good, some of them almost good as new. A farm waggon made £27, a D..F. Wallace p'ongh, £l2 10s; drays. £l2 Ins and i() ss; tirru harrows, £5 10s and £4 5s ; a dull brought £l6t Dairy cows in full milk made £7 15s in £lO. and one choice cow at cnlvmg fetched £lO 15s. Yearling heifers, £2 P2s 61; calves, £l 10s; young calves, 17s; well-bred two and ahalf and Hirec-year-old steers, £4 or ; two-year old steers, £.9 14s. Ibc horses, five of which have been bred by Mr Percy, elicited keen competition, a five-year-old draught gelding making £42 ; a draught mare, tour yens, £4l ; an aged mare with foal at foot by Glenroy, £26 10s : a yearling coll by Glenroy, £l7 ss. The four and five-year-old draughts wer. got by Gumpsic, and were bred by M James Taylor. The sheep, as was expected realised low prices; 225 ewes, mostly fat, made 6s 54, and evves auci lambs (at so much for the ewe and lamb; 4s lOd. The furniture was in good order and sold well.

AUCKLAND MARKETS. Messrs Alfred Bcckland and Sons’ Report.— For the time of the year, there was a larger muster of stock than usual at Remuera on Thursday, owing no doubt to the scarcity of food. Dairy cows were required, and those of good quality sold freely at from £6 to £9 2s fid ; others, £4 to £5 10s Dry cows, £2 2s fid to £4 3s; yearlings, £2 10s; 18 months to 2f-year steers, £3 to £4 15s. The calf pens were all well filled, and fully kept late values, fresh-dropped bringing from 8s to 12s ; medium, 14 1 to to 16s; heavy, opto 555; weedy sorts, Is to 5s (70 sold). Fat cattle came forward in larger numbers than was anticipated, and sold irregularly throughout. Steers and heifers brought from 18s to 21s the 1001b; aged cows, 16s to 17s; prices for steers wore from £6 to £10; cows, £4 to £6 (250 sol i)- Ihe sh-cp yards were again completely filled, and there was uo improvement on last week’s prices. Heavy wethers, 10s to 15s 3d ; light sorts, 7s to 9s 61; ewes of good quality and weight, 9 to 12s; others, 5s to 7s fid (1100 sold). Fat lambs penned in average numbers, did not improve on last week’s vanes ;g< od sorts sold from Ss to 13s; inferior, 3s to 5s (500 sold). There was a moderate muster of pigs yarded, whieli were required, and sold freely at late quotations. Horses: On Friday last at the Haymaiket we again had a large entry in all classes. Good animals sold freely, and we cleared large numbers at the lute ruling nrices. Good draughts sold up to £40," medium draughts, £l9 to £25 ; light harness and cab sorts, yom g auri sound, £l4 to £18; carriage and buggy classes, of good quality, £l7 to £25 ; gig and light trap horses, £5 to £10; common hackneys, £2 to £4 each. Ihe two ponies advertised sold under the hammer at £7 and £lO 15s each. The mare Nereid was sold privately, the waggonette realised £33, light gigs, £l6 and £l2 each; dog cart, £22; buggy &pl trap harness, £2 10s to £4—were some of the sales effected. Hides, Skins, Tallow, etc. : A lleavy dialogue met with a ready sale for the former, but skins were lower in value. Hides sold up to for best ox, and for cow, 4j|d; stag, 2Jd ; calf, 3Jd to 5d per H> ; hone hides, 5s to 6s 9d each : skins, Is 64 to 2s each for best ; pelts, 74 to 9(1 ; limbs’, Od to 9d each; lio'sehair, Is lb; tallow, 17s to 21s out, ; fat, l j-d and 1 .yl lb ; cow tails, Is dozen. Grain : Ex store oats, 3s; maize, prime, 2s fid to 2s 8J ; inferior, at auction, 2s to 2s 3d ; wheat, 3s 3d ; barley, 2s 5d per bushel ; ex wharf maize of good quality fold at 2s 4d ; inferior and pinched, at lower ptiees. Chaff, ex store, £3 5s to £3 10a ; prime, scarce and wanted.
