AUCKLAND MARKETS, Mkssus Alfred Bitckland and Sons’ Report.—Horses: On Friday hist we held no aution sale, but during the week did a fair amount of private business. We sold several heavy draughts at prices varying from £35 to £42 10s. and lighter and active animals £lB to £24 each. Hides, Skins, Tallow, etc. At our weekly sale on Tuesday we catalogued an average amount, also a long list of small oddments of wool. All hides sold freely. Ox 5d to 7d for best stout and Id lb less for lighter ; cow, 4d to 4gd for best and 3fd for lighter; stags, 2sd ; kip, 3£d to 4d ; calf, 4d to Ed lb ; horse hair. Is Id lb ; ordinary mixed tallow, 18s to 21s owt , rough fat, ]ifl and IJd lb ; skins, ,3s to 3s 2d for heavy green or salted Is 8d to 2s bd to 9d ; for the greater number : pelts, 6d to 9d ; lambs, 7d to 18d each Wool : For crossbred, iu bags, 3d ; longwool, 2d to 2Jd ; locks and pieces, Id to Lfd lb. At Remuera on Thursday dairy cows brought from £4 to £6 ; dairy cows, £2 10s to £4; strong calves, £1 ’o£l IDs each. The advertised Shorthorn bud brought guineas ; others, £4 to £7 each? There was a large muster of fat and young calves, which sold freely. Fresh dropped were from 7s to 12s; medium, 14s to 16a; heavy, up to £2 8s; 80 sold. The cattle pens were fairly well filled with cattle of prime quality. At the commencement of the sale prices were better than last week, but fell to 19s and 21s 1001b as the sale proceeded. Steers ranged in price from £6 15s to £l6 : cows, £4 to £6 15s; 210 sold. Mr Holland's second prize show ox brought £l6 ; Mr John Fisher’s first prize thres-year-old steers, £ll 2s 6d each ; Mr W. •«'' Taylor’s two heavy weight steers, £ls and £l4 15s respectively. Fat sheep, penned iu average numbers, were required. Heavy shorn wethers brought Irom 14s to 17s 6d ; lighter sorts, 8-. 9d to 13s; ewes, 8s to 14s fid each; 1000 sold. Fat lambs sold freely throughout. Good sorts brought frrm 10s to 15s 6d ; others, 3s to 8s; 270 sold. Pigs came forward in larger numbers than of late, and all good sorts, which sold at late value*, porkers fetching from £1 5s to £1 12s 6d ; baconers, £1 15s to £2 4s ; 70 sold.
