THE NEW SOUTH WALES MATCH. (Received November 23, 8.17 a.m.) Sydney, November 22. The cricket match, En,land v. New South Wales, began to-day with fine weather and an excellent wicket. Nine thousand people were present. The local captain won the toss and decided to bat. The cricket fell short of what it should have been on so perfect a wicket. The first innings of New South Wales closed for 288. There chief scorers were : Tntmper ’ ... 67 Hopkins 36 Howell 34 Kelly, not out 33 Poideven 30 Braund took six wickets for 100.
England in their first innings have no wickets down fur 26; McL-uen 17.
