FARMERS’ UNION.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,— Being a constant reader of yonr paper I was instructed end enlightened by your leading articles re the Farmers’ Union. It is high time the farmers made their power felt in the political affairs of New Zealand. They can get no reduction in freights from the Minister for Railways, and one of the beat markets is closed for potatoes, cheese,, etc , and many more things. If large growers of potatoes in the South are foolish enough to plant they need not be at the trouble to lift their crop now . that Sydney—to please a political clique—is closed, for potatoes will not stand a long voyage. If the farmers have sense and worldly wisdom like the Trades Unionists, and will drop their adherence to this party and the other, and vote for and elect only men who will comlrne and look after the interests of the fanners, they can then make their power felt in spite of any Government who gives them the cold hand like the present.—l am, etc. Onlooker.
