LORD KITCHENER’S REPORT.

Lord Kitchener's weekly report states that 26 Boers were killed 8 wounded, 104 taken prisoners, and 42 surrendered, 108 rifles, 38,1156 rounds of ammunition, 40 waggou&v'22oo horses, and 3250 cattle were vTUP;. tured. General Walter Kitchener’s column operating from Paul Pietersburg and Utrecht, are pursuing large numbers of Boers between Slaugopietsberg and Pongola Bosch. Delareyand Kemp are at Liudley Poort. A buried Maxim has been recovered at Dewarrsvlei. The information of its whereabouts was supplied by Boer prisoners. Walfaardt has been executed. ARREARS IN PAY. THE YEOMANRY WILL NOT RE-ENLIST. ONE EFFECT OF MARTIAL LAW. London, October 16. The invitation to the Yeomanry to re-enlist largely failed owing to the arrears in pay. Hon. Mr Brodrick has ordered into training fresh mounted contingents and regulars for South Africa. The South African News has voluntarily ceased publication owing to martial law having been proclaimed. THE LATEST. ENGAGEMENT WITH BOTHA. (Received October 17, 8.50 a.m.) London, October 16. Botha, who is provided with ample foodstuffs, is in the Luneberg district. New Zealanders and other troops belonging to General Walter Kitchener’s columns had heavy skirmishes with' Botha’s force round Eromelberg. The Boers descending goat tracks at night escaped towards Pongol Bosch. General Benson, bperatingjat night on the high veldt in the Middleburg district, captured 36 Transvaalers and large herds of cattle. Kruger is ill at Hilversand.
