THE MINISTER FOR LANDS.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir,— ln your leader of the 15th inst. vou quote from the Lyttelton Times as follows :— ‘ Neither nature nor education has fitted Mr Duncan for the post of Minister for Lands.’ I think the quotation referred to is a little rough on that hard-headed Scotchman, and as a proof of the Minister’s fitness for the position and knowledge of farming I quote what he has said re anthrax : ‘ In some cases cattle have become infected through eating turnips. This would have been obviated if the fanners had first washed their turnips.’ This is what I call commonsense, and it is to be hoped that Waikato farmers will adopt the plan suggested by the head of our Agricultural Department next season.—l am, etc., Wash yodr Turnips.
