At tiie Supreme Court the tohunga cose against Tnkomauri, charged with obtaining money under false pretences, pretending to practice witchcraft and rape on an old woman ended in a conviction on the first two charges. Sentence was deferred. Maxwell, charged with shooting S. Hewitt at Wairoa in the thigh, was found guilty and remanded to enable the probation officer to report.
