SPORTING.
At the Australian Jockey Club’s Spring Meeting, held at Randwick on Sep temher 14th, the erstwhile Aucklander Volcano won the Second Steeplechase, of £'2so and a sweepstake of sscvs each. Only two out of a field of live finished, and the betting was G to 1 against the winner,
Mr John Browne, of Cambridge, writes complaining that in our report of the Waikato Hunt Club Races the sire of All Tours, the winner of the Tally-Ho Steeplechase, was given as Gypsy King, whereas it should have been Muskapeer. We are pleased to make the correction, but would pent out that in the race card Gypsy King is given as the sire, and that, of course, was our authority for the statement, We understand that Mr W. Nowell, of of Tamahere, recently disposed of his racing pony Yarra. by C p-i-pi Little Nell, to Mr Gilman, of Taurauga, for the sum of 55 guineas. Yarra L entered for the forthcoming Avondale meeting, and is expected to race under the colours of his new owner on Saturday.
