His commando consists almost entirely of Cape recruits. Doiclrecht volunteers surprised a party of Boer officers at a farm house, killing two and wounding General Smith, who escaped. EARLY SURRENDERS EXPECTED. BOER OFFICERS KILLED. EXTENSIVE CAPTURE OF STOCK. •'"s^sSS (Received September 13, II p.m.) London, September 13. Scheeper’s rebels agree in stating that the Boers in both districts have decided to surrender before the loth. Lord Methuen’s losses were great at Marico. Pie had 15 killed and 30 wounded. The Boer General Limmer and Field-Cornet Joubert were killed and thirty wounded. Lord Methuen captured 300 vehicles, 15,000 cattle, and 60,000 sheep Leyds, Wessels, Fischer and Woltuaroni on Tuesday appealed to The Hague for arbitration in the disputes leading to the war, adding that Great Britain had violated the rules of warfare.
