RORBER SENTENCED
New York, August 22. Winters Selby, the gold robber, has been sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment. [A week or two ago it was announced that the Californian police had got on the trail of the gang of robbers who so ingeniously and laboriously achieved the looting of the gold chamber of the Selby Smelting Works, tunnelling 300 ft from aseasliore cliff to reach the treasure. John Winters was arrested on suspicion at San Francisco, and confessed that he participated in the robbery, and promised to reveal where the £70,000 worth of bar gold, carried off in a boat, was hidden by the thieves ]
