CAMBRIDGE ROAD BOARD.

He thought it a shame that the Board should be losing rates through the matter not; having been rectified. Rath.—The Clerk had received a circular askiug how many rats the Board had caused to be killed, and what had beeu paid for them. It was from the Chief Health Officer, Dr Mason, and the reply sent was that the Board had done nothing in the direction indicated. Thirds. —£ 1 18s 2d had been received for thirds on lands occupied by Miss Ewen.

Thk County Boundary.—Mr Duncan, Chief Valuer for the. Auckland District, wrote re the boundaries between the Counties of Waikato and Fiako near Cambirdge, between the Fenoourt and Karapiro Estates, statiog that it w:is impossible to make the boundaries of the Counties agree with the Cazstte uotice, and that no matter what tl>ev did it would be incorrect. Ke also forwarded a plan of the boundary according to the manner in which the valuation roll a considerable portion of laud. What he wanted was the valuer to get the alteration legalised, and he was instructed to write and ask that that be done.

Noxious Wei'BS.—A special order bringing into force the second schedule of the ' Noxious Weeds Act, 1900 ' was duly passed.—As soon as it is gazetted the Stock Itupector will fee that it is complied with. The Rate.—On the motiou of Mr Day, seconded by Mr Cowling, a rate of |d in the £ was struck for the present year. The Overdiuft.— Tho usual resolution required by the bank for au overdraft was passed. Finance and Accounts. —At date the Board had a credit-balance of £79 9s 3d. The following accounts were passed for payment: Audit fees, 13s 4d ; T. Penned, £23 u-< 4d ; Clerk, £6 5s ; Waikato Aug us, £ I 13s; Aimer, (for buryiDg horse) 12s.

The New Counties Acr.— The Clerk had a copy of the proposed Counties Bill which he stated would probably do away with Road Boards.—The members seemed to think that Road Boards were of much more use than County Councils, aifd some of them said they had hitherto failed to find out the utility of the latter. —Tho Clerk said their functions were entirely different from those of Road Boards; but the members seemed to think that all the functions of the County Councils could be done quite as efficiently and with as much ecouomy by the Road Boards.—lt wes resolved to protest against Road Boards being abolished. Annual Accounts.—These were read and duly signed by the chairman.

A Difficult Fiece of Road. —The Chairman referred to a part of tho road, where it passed through Mr Dougherty's land, that was badly washed away. He said it was a very difficult matter to deal with, and some thought it would be best to make a deviation.—Mr Dougherty waited upon the Board and protested against a deviation being made, aud said that if tho Board put some titree in the rotten land by the road it would prevent any damage being done. —After some discussion it was resolved that the whole Board should meet at Mr Dougherty's on Saturday, the 6th of July at 10 a.m., and decide what should be done regarding the matter. Martyn's Gully.—lt was resolved to erect a good fence with wires aud a top rail at this place. It has been in a dangerous state for some time. That concluded the business.
