The sun shone on a brilliant pict tirp. On the rising ground in front of the Royal paviHion were massed nearly nine thousand mounted men and infantry. Behind them again was a dense throng of spectators. The Duke was dressed as a Colonel of the Fusiliers, and accompanied by his staff, with General French and Colonel Fole-Penton, inspected the troops. The Duchess and n brilliant parly occupied the pavillion.
