Mr li. Fisher seconded the motion pio four.a. Mr Farrer said he thought it would have the eff ct .if dispelling any feeling of jeiiou-j or tavouriti m that might exist iu the minds of exhibitors. Mr El. Allen thought they should consider the advisibtlily of reducing the tuur-'jer nf cups this year to two, and the following year to one. They cost a lot of money, and the Association had not a lame erc-.'ic balance.
The cbaiimun, in snppoiting Mr Farrer's :::otion, said that a suggestion had been ma if: that in tutui'6 the cups should he called " Memorial Cups " only, as the Association cold not possibly al'ot cops in memory of every pr .mineut agriculturalist who departed this life, mid they would then serve in a general way for everyone. The suggestion did not meet with favour, and it was deer e I tint the nar e should remain as before.
Mr Farrer opposed u reduction in the number of cups ; tt ey lml always been p.iicl tor in previous years and he did not see any reason why they should not be pud for in the f.'ure. It would ho a mistake to reduce the number
Mr R. Fisher thought the meeting should allot the cups for tv.o years, and that in future they should be allotted i«ij years in advance, it would be a big mistake to allot them for ever or c.en for live year-. Mr Farrer said there was a vexed question as to whether Jerseys were eiigihle for the cup, aud he considered that the fairest way was to give it in rotation.
Mr R. Fisher said he was iu favour of a cup being allotted to Jersey.-", on condition mat there was competition, lie had moved in th s direction last year. He suggested that a cemmittee should be appointed to report. Mr Farrer agreed to amend his resolution, and moved that the President and Messrs Park, and 11. Reynolds form a committee to bring up a. report on the matter Mr E. Fisher seconded the motion, which was carried. On the motion of Mr J. Fisher, seconded by Mr .Marshall, the Secretary was requested to bring up a repot t showing the classes to which the cups had already been allotted, aud tiie number of entries received in each ch.ss. The i.ie; was us follows: To form a limited liability company to inquire ihe Claudola. ds propelty and develop the same for tli. j purpose of shows, races, and a general recreation around for the public use. The property comprises about. 90 acres and is valued at £2OIO by the Governill-l't valuator.-. At present it is mortgaged for £l-100, which moitgage, or Mich portion of it as nniy be iiecossary, ic is p:opened that the company should take over with til- property and issue sharis. to the I'aik A.-sociatioti, the Agricultural and Pastoral Associition, the Racing C üb, and tiie public. Yours tine'y, Gko Edukouiiuk, Secretary.'' Mi Farrer suig'.'sted that a co'Tim it tee he appointed to meet the Park Association, talk over all details and arrange the scheme. Mr J. Fisher said there was no doubt the question was an important one. as before long '.his property would assuredly lie cut up, and the Association would have to look for another ground. It was no use thinking of Franktou as the land hid doubled itself in price siuco the offer to sell hid been made. The proposalas Were crude, and there were ir.auy things to be considered The company would, he supposed, take over the yards and buildings and :iive shares for them, and effect repairs, but the repairs might t.ot always fall" iu with the views of the Wailiato Agricultural and Pastoral Association. It was proposed came off to shift the grandstand to the other tide of the course and alter the parade ground.
Mr R. Fisher suggested that the matter should be Kfc over until next meeting. Personally he said he was iu favour of the Association having a ground of its own independent of any syndicate. A long discussion re the appointment of a committee to meet the Waikato Park As£oc : ati:u followed, but it was not, of public interest. Eventually on the motion of Mr R. Fisher ; seconded by Mr S.
