DEATH OF MR E HEWITT.
G Thk mortal renniins of the above deceased were interred in the Cambridge Cemetery yesterday afternrou. Tile cortege was one of tile largest ever seen in Cambridge, and it would have been larger but for it liappeuina or. the day when the Olnipn sulo was held, at which many of deceased's friends were compelled to be present. The procession left the house at 3.30 p. m. arriving at St. Andrew's Church shortly after. The bearers were Me-sr.-; Park, C..SO, l'otts, Buillon, Kdwards and T. \V. Hicks, the mourners beings deceased's two sons and his brother-in-law. A proportion of the bnrial>ervice was taken in the Church, the cboirsiiigir.g the psalm and the hymns ,- When our heads are bowed with woe " and " Jesus lives." The building was crowded with friends of deceased.' Archdeacon \Villi3 referred So the many good iiualitiea of the one whose funeral they were attending that day, and he spoke with considerable feeiine, at times hardly able to give utterance to words 11'; sasd as a churchman dccotised was whole-heaited and never missed attending services if he was Burliciently well to do so. And as a citizen) he did his best for the good of all. Asa p.rent he could not le excelled, having been both father and mother to his children since the ibach of his mfi. Mrs Lowe ably presided at the organ and played the " Dead March " Then the body was taken to the cemetery where it was interred i.-i its last resting p'ace. ,Upwaids of thirty floral offerings were placed upon the grave w liich had been received from friends of the hunily ; and we are requested to think the many friends for the assistance they gave. Numerous telegrams and letters were, received from all parts of the North Island symp.ithisinu' with the family.
