.> THE annual gymkhana in connection with the above company came oil Oil Saturday last on the ClaudehmD rice course, Hamilton, and was a decided success. The attendance was fair, but it would undoubtedly have been larger hud the morning broke One. The various volunteer events were well contested, ihe tng-of-war on horseback and wrestling on horseback causing no end of fun. The Victoria Cross competition was gone through in a very creditable manner, and the winner (Private Clements) was loudly cheered for his brilliant feat. The horse races were also very interesting. All the otlioials worked hard to make the sports a success, especially the lion, sec. (Mr G. Mahon) and Captain Hume, and their efforts were rewarded. They were ably assisted by Mr N. Banks, of Cambridge Several members of the No. 2 an 1 .'? Companies were also present, and entered heartily into the proceedings. Mr J. Bettley had a luncheon booth on the cround, and Mr Win. Bright had charge of the publican's booth, and both appeared to be doing well. The Hamilton Band were present, and the splendid pro gramme rendered by them was a treat in itself.
