WAIKATO CLYDESDALES AT THE AUCKLAND AGRICULTURAL SHOW.
The December number of the New Zealand Farmer coutaius the following : "The success of Mr W, Taylor's recently imported Clydesdalestalliousßenmore and Glen Roy at the late Waikato and Auckland Agricultural shows must be gratifying to that gentleman, who has shown considerable enterprise in procuring such stock for use by Waikato farmers. As a proof that there was need fur the horses, the lists for both Beumore and Glen Roy were failed up within a few weeks of the opening of the season. It must not, however, be forgotten that, while the popular proprietor of Lochiel finds the siuews of war, it is to the splendid judement shown by his studmaster, Mr Jas. Baxter, that much of the success of the Lochiel stud is due, and no one admits this more freely than Mr Taylor himself. Broadly speaking the best draught stallions that am now travelling the Waikato and Auckland districts have either been actually .purchased by Mr Baxter, or bred from his former purchases. Could there be better proof of the. soundness of his judgmeuf. The Waikato district has fully shown, during the past few years, its suitability for breeding high-class horses, anil while wc have such men us Mr W. Taylor to plank down the dollars, and Mr Baxter to s.-leet the new blood for us, there need be little fear for the future of draught hors>brecding in our district."
