Buyers wore uumerous and good pricis were obtained. Milieu made £3 lis to £4 Is; store three and a-half year old steers up to £5 17s; store three year old steers, £4 10s to £5; cows with calves, £8 15s to £4 ; fresh bows, £5 7s to £8 7s 6d : springing heifers, very choice, £0 12a 6d to £6 15s; others, £3 15s to £4 10s ; springing cows, £4 12s 0.1 to £5 10s ; bulls, £7 5s to £0 9?. Ebi-okt:— Horses: Have been brcnght forward in increased numbers, and a irood demand prevails at prices in favour of the vendor. There was a large number yaided at the Durham Yards on Friday and competition was keen. Heavy draughts sold at from £l4 7s 0d to £2O 15s; medium, £'s 17s Gd to £22 10s; light harness, £5 17s 6d to £l4 2s Gd ; hacks, £5 2s Gd to £lll7s Gd ; a sulky, £lO 12s 6d.' Cattle : At the Newmarket Yards on Tuesday dairy and store stock were penned in larger minders than usual and sold at improved rates. Beef was yarded in full numbers and the quality throughout was excellent.. Ox betf sold at from ?ls to 29a per 1001 b; cows, 18s to 2ls; steers sold from £6 5s to £l2 10s ; ows, £4 2s Gd to £8 7a Gd. A draft of 20 odd steers from Mr Paterson's, Motiti Island, avoraged £ll )Us 6J, another draft from Mr PL A. Best, Waiuku, averaged £lO Is. Dairy cows sold at from £1 to £L 17a 6d : dry cows, £2 19s to £4 7s'; 4-year-old steers, £5 2s to £5 17s. The eight working bullocks advertised brought £7 15* each. Sheep : The Newmarket Yards were well filed ou Tuesday and receded a little in values, wethers sold at from 14s 6d to Gd ; ewes, 18s 9.1 to 19s; shorn ewes, Kb Gd to 15s3d; shorn wethers, 14s 3d to 17s 9d ; lambs, plentiful, sold at from 9s 3d to 143 9d. Pigs : Owing to the swine fever none were yarded. Wo held our second cattle fair of the season at the Papakura Yards on Monday when we yarded 1143 head of cattle, uud almost, without exception, everything changed hands. Bidding was very brisk and extreme prices were realised, one pen of cattle realising £9 15s each, and many bridging over £B. A draft of very forward steers from Messrs L. D. and N: A Nathan, Whitford Park Estate, realised £7 17f 6d each. A nice draft of 50 four and five year old steers from Mr H. T. Smith, Arapohue, averaged £7 13s; grown steers brought from £6 7s Gd to £9 15s ; three to four year old steers, £5 53 to £6 15s; two-year-old steers, £3 10s to £4 17s Gd. Cows made from £3 Gi to £5 Is; yearlinus, £2 to £2 19s Gd ; calves, £1 to £111?. At Papakura on Wednesday dire was again a large muster of slock of all classes, but dairy cows predominated. Cows sold at from £4 to £6 12s Gd ; other classes brought late rates. Hides : At our weekly sale on Tuesday 570 were offered. All well flayed in demand at late rates. Stout, 5d to to 4d ; 'cow, 3gd to 3|d ; sloppy, 3£d to 3fd ; staes, 2£d to 2|d: calf, sound, 4rl to 5Jd • kip, 3|d to 41 per lb. Sheepskins: Very irregular in price, on the whole easier. Large, 3s Gd to 3s lid ; small and medium, 2s to 3s 3d; pells, 8d to lid; lambs, 8d to Is 2d each. Tallow: Best, ISs to 19s per swt. Wool: Coarse wools are selling at about late rates while fiue has eased in price. Delivery of the new clip into store has commenced, and so far has proved well-grown. 'Horsehair, Is to Is 3d per lb ; cowlmir, lOd to Is Id ; tails. 2s per doz. We would impress on butchers the necessity of taking more care of their pelts, the demand being for only sound pelted fkiiis. Maize has advauccd to 2s 5Ad on wharf. Oats are weak at 2s c.l.f. Patutoes : Very small shipmeuts to hand this week, market firm at £3 10s. Chalf : Prime is worth £2 17s Gd to £3 ; pooler qualities almost unsaleable. Messrs A. Dockland and Sons' Weekly Report.—At the Haymarket: on Friday last, wc again had a large' muster, with a good demand for working and useful harness horses. There were comparatively few weeds entered, and thcae were not wanted. Light hacks and gig horses sold at £6 to £lO each ; better classes up to £l4 ; spring cart and waggon horses, £ls to £22 ; draught, £25 to £32, and for extra-heavy good mare, £4l. Grain, etc. : Owing to bad weather causing coastal steamers to miss a trip, and Sydney buyers securing all available lines, there was an unsatisfied locil demand for maiz?, and 2s 5d bushel was readily obtained, ex wharf. Oats, in full supply, 2h 2d to 2s 3d bushel, ex store ; damaged feed, Is 6d at auction ; barley, 2s Id to 2i 3d ; fowl wheat, 2s 9d ; chuff, interior, £1 5* to £2 12s Gd ton ; brau, bran, £3 15< ; sharps, £4 ss. The Remuera Yards were fairly well filled en Thursday with stock of all classes, which sold at good values. Dairy cows at their profit brought from £4 2s Gd to £5 17s 6d each. The advertised steers were a kindly lot, and sold from £3 12s 6d to £5 16s each ; heifers, £2 10s to £3 10s ; dry cows,£3 to £4 7s ; strong calves up to £1 15s. Pat and young calves are still in strong demand Frcshdropprd, 0' to 9j e:>eh ; medium, 12< to 15s; heavy, up to £1 17s; 40 sold. Pat cattle, peuned in average numbers and of real good quality, scarcely kept last week's quotations. vSteors ami heifers brought from £1 2s to £1 5s 1001 b ; aged cows, ISs to £1 ; 280 sold. Prices for steer 3 were from £7 to £l2 17s 6d each ; cows, £4 to £8 15s. A draft of 44 steeis of Mr Wintle'v, from the T»ra. averaged £ll lis 9d each, and IS from Mr Lyons, of Mauugatawhiri Valley, realised £lO 2s 6d each. The sheep pens were well filled and sold at fair values, wethers in their wool bringing from 153 to £1 23 3d each ; ewes, 14s to ISs; shorn sheep, 10s Gd to ISsi 1100 sold. Fat lambs improved on last'week's prices, and brought from 7s 6d to 10s 3d each ; 280 sold. Twelve ambs from Mr A. Anderson, of Mangero, brought 15s 9-1 each.
