POST-OFFICE CHANGES.
(by telegraph—pkess association.) Wellington, Last Night. The following transfers and promotions in thp Post :-nd Telegraph Department are officially announced. To fiil the position of Inspector of Telegraphs, Auckland, vacant through the death of Mr Bold ; Mr Meddings, inspector of the Melsou district, is to be transferred to Auckland. Mr Meddings is replaced by Mr C. C. Robertson, officer in charge of Wellington, who has been promoted. Mr Mason, officer in charge at Christchurch, Ins been promoted to the charge of the Wellington office, and will be replaced by the promotion of Mr Harrington, officer in charge at Napier. Mr Harrington will be replaced by the promotion of Mr Keys, assistant officer in charge at Christchurch. Mr Keys' position will be filled by the promotion of Mr P. Gannaway, senior check clerk in the telegraph office. Mr Dodd, check clerk at Wellington, moves up into Mr Gannaway's position, and Mr Hawley, telegraphist at Christchurch, has been promoted to the check clerkship to fill the position of electrician, through the death of Mr Smythe. Mr Furby, officer in charge at Auckland, is promoted to the position of inspector of telegraphs and electrician, and he removed to Wellington. Mr Seager, officer in charge at Wauganui, is promoted vice Mr lTurby. Mr Hemus, assistant officer in charge at Auckland, takes Mr Seager's place at Wauganui. His position is to be tilled by the transfer of Mr Martin, assistant officer in charge at Napier. Mr Houlihan, senior officer at Blemlieim, succeeds Mr Martin. Mr Houlihan place will be filled by the ocuioropcrator. To fill the vacancy caused through the death of die late postmaster at Port Chalmers, Mr Capper, postmaster at Dunedin North, is promoted to Port Chambers. Mr Capner's position is to be filled by the transfer of Mr Dewar, postmaster at Qucoustown, and the Queenstown vacancy provided for by the promotion of the postmaster as Naseby, who will be replaced by the promotion of Mr Baouard, senior telegraphist at Hawera. The vacant chief clerkship at the Wellington post ollice will be rilled by the promotion of Mr 'fait, senior mail clerk at Christchurch, who will be succeeded by Mr Rule, mail clerk, who will be transferred fiom Wellington. Mr E. C. Gannaway falls into Mr Rule's place, and the vacancy will bo filled by the promotion of Mr Cuthbcrtsou, clerk at the Dunedin post office.
