BUTTER AND CHEESE MARKET.

TllE Colonial Consignment and Distributing Company (Limited), of London, reports under date June 2!)th:— Since our last report was issued, the unexpected has happened, the valuo of butter having risen 10s to 15s per cwt. One of the causes of the extraordinary rise at this time of the year, in the late spring, . that Denmark has commenced tinning operations, which takes away from this market about 5,000 to 6,000 casks a week. ROTTER. Danish and Swedish : Butter has gone up during the month by leaps and bounds, the liso on the choicest quality being as much as lGs per cwt. The market is, however, a little easier this week. To-day's prices are 108 sto 114 s. "Canadian and States butters are not yet arriving in sufficient quantities to enable us to give a reliable quotation. Australian ami New Zealand : There or four shipments have arrived during the month; they are " Waimate," with 0 570 boxes butter; "Maori" 3,500; '"'ivumara " 3,317 ; and " Whakatane " 5 500 The unloading of this latter vessel has been delayed for more than a week, owing to a strike of the dock labourers. "Some very choice New Zealand butter has lately been sold at OSs to 101 s. CHEESE. The market foi cheese has a downward tendency, the prices for Canadian and States new Cheese are 48s to 51a. There are so few old cheese left that it is impossible to give a lettable quotation. t (New Zealand Cheese ; The situatien ot this market is practically unchanged ; the following arc this week's quotations : 54-s to 58s.
