CHAMBERS OF COMMERCE BILL.
(BY TKLKGRAFH—PRESS ASSOCIATION). Wellington, Monday. Theke is every indication that the Bill affecting the Chambers of Coir.nierce will provide au auimated debate in tho Legislative Council. If it passes at all it will probably be in an amended form. Dunedin, Monday. At a meeting of the committee of the Chamber of Commerce, it was resolved : (1) "That this Chamber strongly approves and endorses the statements contained in the petition of the Wellington Chamber, ami is of opinion that the Chambers of Commerce and Miues' Registration Bill is unnecessary, and unworkable in the real interests of commerce." (2) " That this Chamber disclaims all responsibility for Mr Barclay's unautho rished statement iu relatiou to its attitude towards the Bill.'' Monday. The committee of the Invercargi'.l Chamber of Commerce to-day passed a resolution endorsing that of the Wellington Chamber, protesting against the passing of the Chambers of Commerce and Miues Bill, and trusting that the Legislative Council will reject the measure. Tin committee also sends thanks to Mr MoNab, M.H.R., for voting against the. Bill. Napikk, Monday. At a special meeting of the Chamber of Commerce this morning a resolution was unanimously carried urging the Hawke's Biy representatives to use their best efforts in the direction of getting the Chambers of Commerce and Mines' Registration Bill thrown out, when it conies before the Upper House.
