BOERS FORCED TO RETIRE. 3000 BOERS ANTICIPATED. (Received June, 13 10-35 a.m) London, June 11. Lord Methuen was engaged on Friday 10 miles south of Heilbron. Colonel Baird Douglas and fifteen of the Derbyshire Militiamen were killed on Thursday at Roodeval, an d Colonel "Wilkinson and 59 privates were wounded. General Buller’s concession of an armistice is criticised as enabling the force he surrounded to escape with their guns. The British have turned the Drakensberg Range, forcing the Boers to retire in the direction of Standerton. The British, on Sunday night, occupied a defile at the junction of the Klipriver and Gansvlei, anticipating three thousand Boers, who, with heavy guns, were dispersed. Six British were killed and seven wounded.
