DAIRYING IN THE WAIKATO.
The manager of the New Zealand Dairy Association, Mr Wesley Spragg, is making his annual visit to the Waikato, iu connection with the dairy business. On Tuesday morning, the 29th inst., he met the settlers of the Kirikiritoa district, to discuss the proposal of the establishment of a creamery in that locality. Despite the unfavourable weather a large number was in attendance, which gave some weight to the requisition. After some discussion Mr Spragg decided upon the requisition being converted into a guarantee, to at once proceed with the erec * tion of the creamery. Mr Thomas and Davis were appointed a committee to get the guarantee order in form, so that the buildings will be iu course of erection within a few days. MARSH MEADOWS. Mr Spragg met the milk suppliers of this district in the schoolhouse at 3 p.m. to discuss the proposals sent by them for the establishment of a creamery at that place. Mr Coop was appointed to the chair. Nothing definite was arranged here until a canvas of the immediate district has been made. TAMAHERE. The settlers of this district were met at 5 p.m. to consider the guarantee and requisition sent to the Now Zealand Dairy Association. The interest shown in the movement was marked by the number in attendance. Mr Spragg accepted the guarantee so that the erection of a creamery in this district, which by the way is being opened up to a great extent, will be an accomplished fact within a few weeks. PUKEJCURA AND KARAPIRO. The annual meeting of milk suppliers to the above creameries was held in the Town Hall, Cambiidge West, at 7.30 p.m., Mr E. Allen occupied the chair. Mr Spragg addressed the meeting on the work of the past season. Attention was drawn to the fact, that on account of the drought 200 tons less butter had been manufactured than what should have been, had the season been a favourable, an additional half-penny per lb for fat would be paid to suppliers, thus making a total payment of 8d per lb of butter-fat for the summer months. Several other matters were discussed in the usual friendly manner. The meeting terminated with a vote of thanks to Mr Spragg and the chair. PPKERIMU. The milk suppliers of the Pukerimu Creamery met at the creamery on Wednesday morning. The chair was taken by Mr Gane. The questions of import to the creamery were discussed fully, and the usual vote of thanks both to Mr Spragg and the chair terminated che meeting. OHATJPO. The suppliers of the above creamery met at 11 a.m. A good representative gathering of settlers was in attendance. After a satisfactory and very cordial meeting the meeting terminated with a vote otthanks to the chair. XE AWAMUXU. The annual meeting of suppliers to the New Zealand Dairy Association assembled in the Town Hall, on Wednesday afternoon to meet Mr Wesley Spragg. This gentleman was asked to retain the chair. A statement was made of the satisfactory supply of milk received at the Association’s creamery, Te Awamutu, which had in accordance with the terms of supply entitled the patrons of the creamery, to a total payment of eight pence farthing per lb of buttertat for the summer season. After consideration of terms for the coming season, a motion of thanks to Mr Spragg and approval of his company’s act, was proposed by Mr Jones, seconded by Mr Anderson. In acknowledging the compliment, Mr Spragg referred to the growing business of his company and its increased stability. He thanked the suppliers for their favourable remarks. The terms of payment for next season were arranged as for the past season. This announcement was received with marked approval. KIHIKIHI. A meeting of the suppliers of the Kihikibi Creamery was held in the afternoon, when Mr Hutchison was elected to the chair. The proceedings were similar to those in Te Awamutu. A vote of thanks to Mr Spragg and the Chairman terminated the meeting.—(Communicated).
