MILITARY SPORTS AND CONCERT AT KIHIKIHI

TuE’lUfc'annual Gyml-hiua, by hj K hj kihi members of the Waikato Jimmied Rifles, took place in the Dorn in, ou Tnursday afternoon, and was a are t success. There was a large gathering i f spectators, and many of the volant; ers from other divisions, Pirongia, Cambridge, etc., were present, and took part in the different events. The sum of over twelve pounds was takin at the gates, and, from what I can gather, a large number of those present did pot pay for admission, owing to there being several different way of getting on and off the ground, which were not all guarded. This, however, will probably be looked to at future meetings of the sort. The weather was favourable being cool and fine, thought of course rather dusty. Had the day been a public holiday no doubt there would have been an even larger att ndance, as the object to which tiie proceeds are to go viz the Kihikihi Patriotic War Fund is evidently a popular one. The following are the results of the different events, the management reflected on the energetic Secretary, Trooper A. Ross and the Committee. Pest Equipped Volunteer (Only five entries), Trooper C. The concert, held in the Town Hall, in connention with the sports on Thursday night, was an unqualified success. Mr J. The Te Awamutu band, who had also enlivened the sports with good music, during the afternoon, played several selections outside the hall. The hall was gaily decorated with our national and other flags, and after the singing of the National Anthem by the audience, which was engaged in with great vigor, the following inspiriting programme was gone through*—J. 1 ?® JJ!idi£JjesJnjnjiny HtSeTlusti ly join ing in the choruses, aiitT frequently demanding encores Overture, “ Hero of Trafalgar,” members of the To Awamutu Band, song, “ Sons of the Sea,” Mr Rigg ; song, “ Soldiers of the Queen,” Mr Laurie ; (in character), “ The Dashing hite Sergeant;’’ Mrs Ahier ; song, “The Soldier’s Good-bye,” Mr Brett ; song, “ Sons of the Empire,” Mr Bathurst; solo on mouth organ, Mr Prince ; song, “ Let Me Like a Soldier Fall,” Mr Bathurst; song, “ True Till Death,” Mr Laurie ; recitation, “The Absent-minded Beggar,” Mr S.
