The first term at the Hamilton High School will commence on Tuesday, 30th January. The Equitable Building Company has declared a dividend at the rate of 9 per cent, for the year. The Principal of King’s College, Auckland, will be at the College on Monday, 13th February, to meet parents and enrol pupils for the new term, which will commence on the following day. We remind our readers that the monthly meeting of the Waikato Farmers’ Club will be held at Cambridge no Monday evening, when some important proposals re frozen meat will be laid before the members. A full attendance is requested. Miss Agnes Chisholm, daughter of a settler, near Palmerston, has been missing since Saturday. It is feared she has been drowned. She had been suffering from influenza, which affected her head. She went out to look for some cows on Saturday, and has not been seen since. Portions of her dress and underclothing have been found on the beach. At a meeting of the Camara Agricultural and Pastoral Association to-day it was decided to request the Government to suspend the co-operative works throughout the colony during harvest time, owing to the expected scarcity of harvesters. The same eompla nt is very rife in the Waikato at the present time, and if the Government were to take the action suggested it would be a boom to farmers, provided of course that the co-operative men would work at a rate of pay which the farmers can afford to give. We remind the inhabitants of Cambridge and its vicinity of the concert to be given on Wednesday next, in the Oddfellows’ Hall, by Mr Samuel Adams and friends. The proceeds will go to supplement the Cambridge War Fund, and in this way those who cannot afford to give their guinea or half-guinea, as the case may be, can still help the cause by purchasing tickets. Those may be obtained at any of the leading'stores. We need not comment on the programme that is likely to be put before the public on this occasion, as Mr Adams’ reputation is a sufficient guarantee that it will be a first-class one, but we may "state it will appear in Saturday’s issue, and wo believe it will contain the gems of the British patriotic songs, We trust all will attend, and those who cannot attend may assist by purchasing tickets.
