THE HAMILTON POST-OFFICE.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —Is it not just about time that we in Hamilton took some steps to ascertain what the Government intend doing in the matter of replacing our post-office. It is now more than three months since the old building was destroyed, and so far as I have been able to ascertain, no steps have yet been taken to replace it. i notice that the authorities have recently installed the gas in the little temporary office, and for the purpose the pipes from the old site have beeu taken up. The officers of the Department and the public are put to great inconvenience by the inadequanoy of the present building. It appears to me that some official in Wellington has overlooked the matter, as the Premier soon after the fire promised that there should be uo delay. I trust that the new building will be in brick, so as to reduce the risk of another catastrophe to a minimum, and that the building will embrace accommodation fur the officers of the Government stationed here.—l am, etc , Correspondent.
