DEATH OF MR JOSEPH PRINCE.
Wk have to report the death of one of the Waikato’s oldest and most respected settlers, Mr Joseph Prince, late of Ohaupo, passed away at the ripe age of 79, ah ml midirght of Wed nrsday, at the residence of his son-in-law, Mr Thomas Qualtrough, of Hamilton, where he has been residing for some time, in order that his daughter Mrs Quail rough, might nurse him during his last illness. Mr and Mr Prince with their three sens and two daughters arrived is the colony in 1869, in the ship Red Novty, and settled in Alexandra in 1872, where deceased carried on his business as blacksmith for seven years, when he removed to Ohaupo where he has resided for about 17 years and carried on the business which is now conducted by his youngest son. Mrs Prince died about two years back, shortly after the old couple celebrated their golden wedding. The deceased leaves thrre sons and two daughters and twenty-eight grand children, all in the colony, to mourn their loss. In Mr Prince, Waikato loses one of its most respected settlers. The funeral will take place to-morrow (Friday), leaving Mr Qiultrough’s residence, Han’iilton, at Pi noon, and the deceased’s late residence, at 3 p.m,, for the Ohaupo Cemetery.
