AUCTIONEER REPORTS.
The "New Zealand Loan and MERCANTILE AOKNOY COMPANY (LIMITED) fC port, —Auckland Wool Stores, Deccmler 19th. On Tuesday we offered a catalogue comprising 527 hides, 1084 skim*. S 3 packages wool, and 36 packages, tallow, prices realised being as follows : Hides : Stout ox, to bUd lb ; heavy, 4?d to s{d : light and medium, 4Jd to 4:|d ; stag, 3d to 3Jrl ; cow, 4jd to 4J-d ; extra condition, to 5d ; calf, 5d to ssd. Sheepskins : Full-woollcd half-breds, 5< 3d to Gs 9d each ; longwool.-s, 4s 9d to 6s 3d ; pelts, Is 3d to Is 7d ; Limbs', Is 3d to2s7d. Tallow : Best rendered, ISs 6d to "21s cwt. Wool (in baps, etc.) : Cro-s----bred, s|d to GJd lb ; cotts, od to s|d ; pieces and bellies, 3£d to Sol ; dead, to 5Ad. Horse hair, la 3d to Is 6d lb ; tails, '2s dozen. Maize : Heavy shipments again to hand, tut in constquence of the large stocks held here, and no orders being received from Sydney, the market weakened to 2s 7d bushel, and even at this price a large portion had to go to store, uhe supply being considerably beyond local demand. Oats : Southern market very firm, and as the supply from South received this week was very small the maiket has advanced here Id, with a firming tendency. Pre sent quotation, 23 2d and 2s 3d bushel for "b " aud "B " grades. Potatoes : Market is glutted. We quote : —£3 10s ton for prime samples. (Jluff is worth £2 ton at rail. Cheese : The market is lightly stocked, and all good cheese coming to hand is eagerly taken up at 4£d lb. Butter : Poor dairy ia coming forward in large quantities, and is hard to dispose of at 4cl to 5d lb, but best qualities arc worth 7d ; factory, lOd to lid. Advices just to hand from London inform us that out of consignment ex lonic 42 boxes averaged 102 s 6d and 101 boxes 105 s cwt. MESSRS A. BuCKLAXD AND SONS' REFORT. —At the Haynißrket, oats have ranged from Is 9d to 2s 2d ; barley, 2s 3d ; maize, 2s 9d ; wheat, 2s 8d bushel ; linseed, lid lb ; chaff, Is 9d to 2s 3d ; sharps. 4s" 3d ; pressed straw, 2s 6d ; pressed hay, 2s 6d ; guano, 3s 6d ; bonedust, 7s cwt; maize on wharf, 2s 7d bushel. On Friday, consequent on the special sale on Saturday, horses were dull of sale ; for those sold, late values were obtained. On Tuesday hides pitched in full number were better worth. Ox hides brought from to 6.^d; cow hides, 4d to 5d ; stags, to 3d ; kip, 3|d ; calf skin?, 4£d to 5Jd lb ; horse skins, 4s 6d to 7s; horse tails, Is each ; ox tails, 2s dozen ; tallow, 18s to 235; grease, 10s ; bones, 33 6d cwt; rough fat, 1-Jd lb ; woolled skins, 2s 3d to os 4d ; pelts, 8d to Is Sd ; lamb skins, Is 6d to 2s each ; Merino wool in bags, 9}d ; long wool, 5.! to 6| 1; p'-ces, 2|d to 4d lb. At Remi era on Thur, :iay dairy cows, in moderate number, were at late values ; those at profit were from £3 153 to £5 10s each, Store cattle, in full number, sold irregularly, but were at lower values than last week. Calves, in average number, 60 sold, were at late values. Fat cattle, in moderate supply, kept their values; steers and heifers from 17s to 18s, cows 12s to 16s the 1001 b ; steers brought from £5 12s 6d to £8 12s 6d ; cows, £3 to £B, 203 sold. Sheep in full numbers, many heavy weights, were at lower values, fully Is each. Fat wethers, from 8s 9d to 12s ; ewest, 6s 9d to 9s each, 1350 sold. Lambs, yarded numerously, sold freely ; of choice quality brought from 9s to 13s 6d ; medium, from 5s to 8s each, 570 sold. Pigs, in leas number than usual, scarce'y kept late values ; 38 sold. Messrs Hunter and Nolan's Report.—Horse: A" good many were brought forward, for which there was a moderate demand at the previous week's values. Rather a large number was submitted by auction at the Durham Yards on Friday. There was fair bidding throughout the sale for heavy draughts at from £l7 to £27 5s each ; medium draught, £l2 to £2l ; light harness, £4 to £ll 5s ; hacks, £4 to £l4 10s. Wool, hide 3, skins, tallow, bones : There was again a good catalogue gone through at the Durham Yards on Tuesday, and valuer were maintained. Good conditioned cow hides were in ppecially brUk demand, aud sold at from 4d to 4|d lb ; extra stout ox hides, 5d to 6J-d ; medium to stout, 4d to 4fd ; kip, 3fd to calfskins, 4,}d tosd ; damaged, 2d to 2Ad ; damaged hides, 2|d to 3d ; tallow, 18s to 21s 6d cwt ; rough fat, Ijd lb ; bones, £3 10s ton ; sheepskins, heavy, 4s 6d to 6s 6d each ; medium, 3s to 4s 3d ; light, Is 6d to 2s 9d ; lambskins, Is to Is 8d ; pelts, 6J to Is lOd, wool, fleece in dumps and bags, 4£d to lb ; pieces, 3d to 4jd ; locks, Id to 2d. Cattle : The beef pens at Newmarket on Tuesday were well filled, fat stock being yarded numerously, and, with the exception of those of very prime quality, receded in values. Wc quote: Ox beef, from 16s to 19s 1001 b; cow, 14s to 16s. Fat steers sold from £5 2s 6d to £lO each ; fat cows, £3 5s to £6 2a 6d. A small draft of Waikato oxen averaged £9 4s. Dairy and store stock were yarded in full numbers, and sold at late rates. Sheep: The Newmarket Yards were completely filled on Tuesday. Fat wckhers ranged from 8s 91 to 14s 3d each ; fat ewes, 7s 6d to 13s 3d ; store wethers, 7s 6d to 10s 3d. Lambs, plentiful ; those of good quality advanced in prices, and sold at from 7s 6d to 12s 9(1 each. Pigs, scarce : Porkers sold at from £1 5s to £1 15s each ; weaners, 7a to 103 Od. 1
