ASSAULT CASE.

At the Police Court, Hamilton, this morning, Alfred Jones, of Woodlands, was charged (before Messrs John Knox and J. S. Bond, Justices), with having assaulted Charles G. Sidford by striking him in the face on Thursday, December 21st. He was further charged with striking him a second time, the same afternoon, and again yesterday afternoon Accused pleaded guilty, but said be had provocation. He was fined £2 and 18s costs for the first offence, or in default one month with hard labour, and on the second, bound over to keep the peace for six mouths in two sureties of £25 each Accused will be taken down to Mount Eden this afternoon.
