At the monthly sale held in the Hamilton Borough yards on Thursday, a large number of cattle was brought forward, for which the demand was good. Young cattle, brought their value, and could have been placed in larger numbers. Bulls ware yarded more numerously than usual, and, if well bred, were wanted at an advance over late rates. Beef was in full supply, and generally of good quality, over a 100 head of fat cattle being yarded, the top price for steers, viz., £7, and fat heiiers, £6 9s, beiDg obtained by Messrs Primrose Bros., for some pens of well finished cattle, the largest buyer in this line being Mr Walter Wight, of Eucroa. Dairy cows were scarcely represented, but for the half dozen yarded, there was brisk bidding up to £4 15s. Sheep were iu good supply and fair demand, nearly all telling under the hammer. Pigs were a big market, and in keen demand, the sale being about one of the largest and best this season, young pigs bringing extreme prices. Prices wen : Yearlings, mixed sexes, 14s 6d to 22s ; steers, 24s to 32s 6d ; 18 months steers, £2 13s to £2 19s ; two-year-old steers, £2 10s to £3 7s 6d ; three-year-old steers, £3 5a to £4 2s 6d ; empty cows £2 ss, to £3 18s for fresh cows ; bulls, younz, 24s to £3 5s ; two year-old bulls, £2 7s~6d to £3 12s 6d ; fat cows, £3 10s to £5 18s, the majority selling at about £4 ss; fat heifers, £3 10s to £6"9s ; fat steers, £5 lls to £7 ; dairy cows, £3 to £4 15s. Sheep : Fat ewes (shorn), 7s lid to 8a 3d; fat wethers ( shorn), lis 6d ; store ewes, 6s 7d ; fat wethers in wool, lis 91 to 13s 6d ; ewes and lambs, 9s 6d ; fat lambs, 6s 9d to 7s 6d. Pigs : Weaners, 7s 6d to 10s ; slips, 103 6d to 15s; grown pigs, 18s 6d to 30s. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company (Limited) report.—Auckland Wool Stores, November 29th. We offered large catalogues of hides, sheepskins, wool, etc., at our sale to-day, every line being cleared at satisfactory prices. Hides : Prime stout ox, 5Jd to 6+,d lb ; stout and heavy, 4|d to ssd ; light and medium, 4|d to 4£d ; Btae, 3d to 34d; cow, 4*d to 4jjd ; picked, sound. 4|d to s}d. Sheepskins : Large, 5s to 6s 3d each ; small and medium, 2s 6d to 4s 9d ; lambs, Is 3d to Is 9d ; pelts, sound salted, Is to la sd. Tallow : Best rendered, 18s to 21s cwt. Horse hair, Is 5d to Is 6d. Tails, Is lid dozen. Wool : In bags, etc., crossbred, s{-d to lb ; bellies and pieces, 3gd to ofd. We have sold privately 147 bales of wool passed in at our sale of yesterday at satisfactory, prices, and again quote current prices, as follows : Halfbred, 10(1 to Is lb ; crossbred, fine, 7;J-d to 9id ; Lincoln and coarse crossbred, s|d to 7d ; cot 3 and shabby wools, 4|d to s|d. Maize : There have been several inquiries from Australia this week, and consequently the market has risen to 2s 9d on wharf. We would advise shippers to take the full advantage of the Sydney demand while it lasts, and forward consigiurifcnts as opportunities afford. Oats : The Southern market is firm, but as stocks here ire heavy some holders are prepared to sell slightly under present cost. We quote : 2s 3d, ex store, for "B " grade ; " C," 2s 2d. Potatoes : Supplies of new are coming to hand very freely. The market has fallen to £4 10s ton, ex store. Chaff is worth £2 ton at rail. . Cheese : The market is lightly stocked. All snpp'ies are eagerly taken up at 4jd lb. Butter : Large quantities continue to come to hand. Poor qualities are slow of sale at 4d to 5d lb, good dairy realising 7d, factory lOd to lid, and firm at these prices.
