An official report from the Geueral Wirgatc, director of the Military Intelligence Egyptian Army, states that a decisive victory has been gained over the Dervishes at Gedid, on the Blue Nile, South of Khartoum. The Khalifa was killed. Later reports say that the Dervishes were defeated after a sharp light. All the Khalifa's bodyguard and the principal emirs were killed or captured. Osman Digna escaped. Thousands surrendered, aud the enemy's camp wus taken. Three Egyptian soldiers were killed and twelve wounded. The Soudau has been declared open for trado.
