SEDDONITE BARRACKERS.

TO THE EDITOR. Sib, —At Dr. Hosking's meeting at Ohaupo the usual detachment of Liberal barrackers from Hamilton and Te Awamutu were in strong evidence, and indeed the place was fairly ringing with deafening applause at every sentence uttered by the clever Doctor in praise of all the good done by the Seddon Government in the interest of the farmer. Almost all the farmers present eat with countenances which depicted sullen contempt. Of course Mr Lang had done nothing for the farmers, and therefore he should be rejected. Now lam sure that every right-thinking farmer must admit that Mr Lang has done a great deal for the farmers in frustrating the passing of the Orchard and Garden Pests Bill. In the face of last year's protestation by the Auckland Agricultural Association, Waikato Agricultural Association, Waikato Farmers' Club, Waipa County Council and other local bodies, not forgetting the Auckland Fruitgrowers' Union, representing a dozen Associations, the Government hod the impudence to reintroduce their objectionable Bill last session. Mr Lang was entrusted with the task of fighting the Bill, and for the last three years he has, with the assistance of three or four other Opposition members, successfully fought against one of the most arbitrary measures introduced by the present despotic Government. If that Act had become law, all tho farmers would have had to cut down their fruit trees. The Bill was simply introduced for the purpose of giving billets to an army of Government inspectors, and surely they have enough of them alicady. To Mr Lang is due the credit of preventing the Act from becoming law, and surely farmers will show their appreciation and loyalty by supporting Mr Lang in the coming election, in order that he may again return to champion the good cause in the farmers' interest. If a church minister forsakes the Kingdom of God for the kingdom of corruption and tyranny, he will certainly be a very dangerous law-maker. —I am, etc., Electok.
