AUCKLAND MARKETS.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company (Limited) report.—Auckland Wool Stores, Novemler 15.—A large number of hides and skins was offered at our sale on Tuesday, and all sold under brisk competition.- Hides : We quote prime stout ox, 5M to 6d ; stout, 4gd to sjd ; light and medium, 4Jd to 4-gd ; cow, 4jd to 4fd ; sloppy, 4id ; stags, 2£d to 3d; kip, to 4*d ; calf, s£d ; cut, 3£d lb. Sheepskins : Large coarse, 4s 6d to 5s 3d ; small and medium, 2s 9d to 4s ; fine large, 4s 9d to 6s ; small and medium, 3s 3d to 4s 6d each. Tallow : Best, £1 Is cwt. Horse hair : Best tail, Is 6d to Is 6^(1; medium, Is 4d lb. Cow hair : 3d to lid lb ; tails, 2s dozen. Maize: Sydney has again shown a weakness, and the market here has fallen to 2s 7d on wharf, with stocks accumulating. Oats are very firm at 2s 3d ex store. Potatoes : We quote £2 ex ship ; £2 2s 6d, ex store. Chaff: The market still remains very quiet, supplies being beyond requirements. Current rates"are £2 to £2 2s 6d at rail. Cheese : The market is firmer, but quotatiors have not altered from 4Jd to 4|d lb. Butter : The supply of dairy butter coming to hand is increasing, and the best samples are only worth 6d lb ; 4d to 5d for inferior. Factory is firm at lOd to lid lb.
Messrs Hunter and Nolan's Retort. Grain, seeds, horsefeed : The supply has been ample for requirements. Maize receded slightly in value, but there was little chaDge in other lines. We quote: Maize on wharf, 2s 7d bushel ; ex store, 2b lOd ; oats, Is lOd to 2s 3d ; bran, £4 ton ; oaten chaff, at railway station, £2 to £2 10a ton. Horses : The demand was not quite so strong as on the previous week, but there was little alteration iu value. An average number was submitted by auction at the Durham Yards on Friday. Competition was not keen, but most of the lots chunged hands. We quote: Heavy draught,. £l6 to £29 10s ; medium draught, £l2 to £lB 10s ; light harness, £4 10s to £l2 10s ; hacks, £5 to £lO 15s. Wool, hides, skins, tallow, bones : Average quantities were brought forward and were in brisk demand. Stout ox at from 4fd to 6£d ; steers, 4d to 4jd ; cows, from 4d to s|d ; damaged hides, lj.-l to 3£d; calfskins, 3d to 4jd lb ; tallow, 18s to £1 Is b'd cwt; rough fat, ljd lb ; boues, £3 53 ton ; sheepskins, from 2s 4d to 5s lOd ; lambskins, lOd to Is Id ; pelts, 2d to Is Cd each. Wool : Fleece, 4Jd to 5Jd lb; pieces, 3d to 3|d; locks, lfd to 2d ; horse hair, Is 4d to Is 6|d lb. Cattle : At the Newmarket icards on Tuesday dairy and store stock were yarded in usual numbers, and sold at last week's rates. We quote: Dairy cows, from £3 5s to £5 17s b'd ; dry dairy cows, from £2 Is to £3 4s; grown steers, £4 2s 6d to £5 ss. Beef was yarded in full numbers, and sold more briskly than for last week. Ox beef ranged from 16s to 19a 1001 b ; cows, 14s to 16s 1001 b ; steers sold at from £5 12s 6d to £8 12s 6d ; cows, £3 5s to £6 2s6'l. Sheep were penned in moderate numbers at Newmarket on Tuesday, and were steadily competed for. Fat wethers sold at from 13s 3d to 16s 94 ; shorn wethers, 8s 9d to 12s 9d ; shorn ewes, 8s 3d to 12s 3d. Lambs, yarded numerously, sold at from 5s 6d to 13s Gd. Pigs, scarce ; porkers sold at from £1 Is to £1 19s; weaners, 6s to 12s 6d.
