Lieutenant Egerton, the Duke of Devonshire's nephew, wounded at Ladysmith, has hid his legs amputated. He has beeu promoted. Captain Kennedy, with a company of sappers, has started, Cape to utilise Marconi's wireless in connection with the war. A number oi specially mounted 12poundcr quick firers, 15 pounder quick firen, 400 seamen and gunuets have left Portsmouth for the front. Three more battalions of British militia are being embodied. Pabis, November 5. French police are shadowing the Boer committee in Paris. St. Petersburg, Novemher 5. The Pastor of the Dutch church his lonv.rded to the newspapers for publication a notice issued by Dr. Leyds, stating that the Transvaal would welcome all volunteers at the frontier. Cavktowii, November 5. Sir A. Milner estimates the refugees from the Transvaal at GO,OOO. In connection with a communication from the Defence Office as to whether any colonial otiicers were prepared to go to the Transvaal for training under the Imperial Army, we learn that Capt. Reid and Lieut. Heather, of the Waikato Mounted Rifles, have offered their services. The officers will serve under the same conditions as the officers of the New Zealand contingent.
