(BY TELEGRAni.— OWN CORRESPONDENT). Auckland, Last Night. Tue charge of Sunday trading preferred against Walter Frank B:own, licensee of the Norlhcote Hotel, was proceeded with to-day. The defendaut stated when he took over the hotel some months ago ho understood that it was permissible to serve people coming from Auckland on Sunday. The police never interfered before. A witness stated that more people had gone over to the North Shore recently on Suudays, and he naturally came to the conclusion that the increase was clue to their being unable to get drink in Auckland, Counsel withdrew the plea of not guilty to the charge of keeping open on Sunday, and would plead guilty on tint charge. Accused was fined 40s and costs. The other charge was withdrawn.
