Sir Maurice O'Rorke has come out for the Manakau electorate. The Rev. Dr. Hoaking will conduct the services in the Hamilton Wesleyan Church to-morrow. Our Cambridge friends should remember that the formal opening of the Polo Club takes place this afternoon. As will be seen from an advertisement in this issue Mr J. A. Young, dentist may be consulted at Te Awamutu all day on "Tuesday next, and at Kihikihi all day on Wednesday. A telegram from Wellington received lata night states that dipt. Russell, who has been seriously ill since Parliament rose, is better, but is still in a very weak condition. At the Hamilton Presbyterian Church to-morrow the Rev. J. M. Mitchell will give the fifth of the series of address on " In His Steps," the subject being " Jesus as a Friend." The Rev. F. Latter will conduct the following in Waikato West on Sunday :—Te Awamutu 11 a.m., Rangioahia 3 p.m., and Christ Church (Kihikihi) 7 p.m. We call the attention of settlers to a lot of very useful cattle that are impounded at Cambridge. They have evidently lately passed through the auctioneers hands, as most of them are tar branded. The communion will be observed at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Cambridge, to-morrow morning. The preacher for the day will be the Rev. J. B. Finlay, of Wellington, who will also conduct service at Pukerimu at 3 o'clock. The famous Federal Band, which v'siteel Hamilton some time ago, will revisit the town on Tuesday next and give a performance in the Volunteer Hall, commencing at 8 p.m. The band established quite a reputation for itself on the occasion of the first visit - , and no doubt it will be favoured with large audiences in the Waikato. The Waikato Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club will hold their opening run of the season on Thursday next, the 9th inst. The start will be from the Bank of New Zealand, Hamilton, about 9 a.m., the destination being Te Awamutu, where the Floval Fete and Flower Show and Athletic Sports meeting should provide a good clay's amusement for those who make the trip. All members and intending members are requested to join in the run A meeting of St. Peter's Vestry was held in the Sunday-school, Hamilton, on Thursday afternoon, to consider the positiou as regards the appointment of a Vicir as successor to Rev. R. O'C. Biggs. Ven. Archdeacon Willis presided, and after eome discussion it was decided to refer the matter to a general meeting of parishioners, to be held in the schoolroom on Tuesday evening, 14th iust. A letter was received from the Primate htating that Canon Calder would conduct the services for the next two Sundays, but after consideration as to the expense incurred by this arrangement it was decided to request the lay readers to carry on the services after to-morrow, pending further arrangements, and the Secretary was instructed to communicate with the Primate to this effect.
