HAMILTON STOCK MARKETS' At the monthly sale held in the Hamilton Borough Yards on Thursday, an avoage nun.ber of stock was brought forward, with a good attendance of the public. Young cattle were well represented and in brisk demand at fully late rates. Beef was in fair supply, aboui; 60 head being yarded, and generally of choice quality. Very few pens were pnssed, Mr Chitty getting £8 2s 6d for well-finished oxen ; Mr Willey up to £5 Jos for fat cows. Mr Jos. Barugh had a sood line of fat cows, which made from £4 10s to £5 'is 6d. Dairy cows were well represented, but generally of poor quality. The demand was good, nearly everything being sold, the majority at from £3 10a to £4 10s. The sheep yards were fairly filled with a good assortment, fat sheep showing no change in value. The first lambs of the season were yarded and sold briskly. Pigs were in full supply, including a draft of grown barrows from Karamu. The demand "'as brisk, and everything sold at full prices. The following prices were realised : Yearlings, heifers, 21s to 24b ; do., steers, 26s to 325; two-year heifers, 35s to 43*; two-year steers, £2 7s to £2 10s ; two and a-half ye*r steers, £3 to £4 Is; empty cows, £1 15s to £2 18s, wanted ; cows and calves, £2 8s the couple ; bulls, £2 5s to £2 15s ; fat cows, £3 10s to £5 15s, the majority,selling at about £4 5s ; fat steers, £6 5s to £8 2s 6d ; di.iry cows, poor and agad, £2 10s to £3 10s ; good cows, £4 4s to £5 10s. Sheep : Fat ewes, 9s 6d to 12s; fat wethers, lis to 12s 6d ; hoggets, Ss 6d ; fat lambs, 7s 4d to 7s 6d. Pigs: Weaners, 6s 6d to 9s; slips, 10s to 12s 6d ; porkers, 13s to 17s ; grown pigs, 20s to 30s ; sows in farrow, 27s to 30s ; pedigree boars, 14s to 17s. A tew horses were sold at current rates.
MR W. J. HUNTER'S ANNUAL OHAUPO BULL AND SPRING CATTLE SALE. At Mr W. J. Hunter's Yards on Tuesday, over 600 head of cattle were yarded, including about 50 bulls and 100 dairy cows. Thoße offered were ull of a good class, most of them young ; there was a good demand and all sold under the hammer with the exception of two. Price 3 ranged from 5 to 7 guineas, Messrs Newell and Edson topping the market at the latter price. There was a large muster of dairy cows, but only a few were of a good quality, the highest price being £5 7a 6d. Springing heifers were well repreiented and of a. good class, selling freely up to £5 ss. Young stock •re still in demand and grown steers in fresh condition, also sold well, up to £6 12s. Some fresh empty cows, sold by Mr Thomas Hinton, were a nice lot, fetching from £3 10a to £4 4s. The following are the quotations:— Bulls, from 5 to 7gf., selling freely and more could have been placed ; dairy cows, from £4 to £5 7«; aged and inferior, up to £4 ; springing heifers, from £4 4s to £5 5a ; yearlings (mixed sexes), from £1 3s to £1 15s, small ; 15-months old, £2 2a 6d ; two-year-old steers, £2 8s to £3 Bs, for well • grown ; three-year-old steers, from £4 15a to £5 5s ; grown steers, fresh condition, from £5 12s to £6 12s; empty cows, from £i 2s 6d to £4 4s, according to condition ; fat cows, £4 Up. Sheep : About 300 were yarded ; wethers, lis ; ewes and lambs, from 10s 6d to 13i 2d. There was a good attendance of the public and the bidding was brisk, nearly everthing selling under the hammer.—(Own Correspondent). AUCKLAND MARKETS. Messrs A. Auckland and Sons'Retort.—On Tuesday the improved value of light hides was sustained. Ox hides were from 4\t\ to 5d ; cow hides, 3fd to 4Jd ; kip, 3§d ; calf, 4d to 5d lb ; horse skins, 5s to 8a 3d each; tail, Is lid dozen ; horse hair, is 3d lb ; tallow, lGs 6(1 to 23s 6d ; bones, 3s 8d cwt; fat, If d lb ; fresh skins, 3s Id to 5s 3d ; dry skins, is 8d to 3s 9d each ; wool, 4d to 4|d lb, At Remuera, on Thursday, dairy cows were at late values ; those near profit wtre from £4 to £5 17s 6d each. Store cattle, yarded numerously, were required. Four-year-old steers, £5 5s to £5 17s; two-year-old and younger steers, at lower relative values. Fat and young calves, in less number th in usual, were at better values aa the sale proceeded. Strong calves b ought from 18s to £1 12s. Fat cattle, in full supply, were steady nt last week's / values, 16s to 18s the 1001 b ; steers were from £4 10s to £8 12s 6d ; cows, £3 10s to £6 ss; 247 Bold. Sheep, in ordinary supply, were at late values; shorn wethers, 10s 6d to 13s 9d ; in their wool, 13a to 15s ; ewes, 6s 6d to 13s 6d each ; 1200 sold. Lambs, numerous, kept their values, and mostly brought from 8s to 10s 6(1 each; one pen, extra heavy, 13s 6d ; inferior, 3s 6d to 03; 300 sold. Few pigs yarded.

Wool, hides, skins, tallow, bones: A moderate catalogue was gone through on Tuesday under epiiited bidding. Stout ox hides, from 5d to 6Jd ; ttout, 4d to 4}d ; cowf, 4d to 4Jd ; damaged hides, 3Jd to 3£d ; calf akina, 4Jd to Cjd per lb ; tallow, 15s to 19j 6d cwt; rough fat, Jjd to 2d lb; bones, £3 5s ton ; sheep skins, heavy 4s 9J to fis lid, ordinary 3s to 4s Gil, light Is 4d to 2s lOd, pelts 8d to Is 3d; wool, fleece 4Jd lb, pieces 3d to 3jd. Wethers sold at from 13s to 16s 9d - ; ewes, 10s 6d to 14s 9d. The shorn wethers which took first prize at the Waikato Show for sheep most suitable for fretzing, realised 14a 6-J ; the second prize do., 13* 9j ; shorn ewe 9,7 s 6d to lis 9d. Fat lambs plentiful and required, sold at from 9a to 13j b'd. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company (Limited) report. Auckland Wool Stores, November Ist.—At our sale on Tuesday, hides were in usual quantity, and prices were firm at last quotations. We quote :—Hides : Picked ox, 6d to 6|d ; stout, s£d to s|d ; heavy, 4-Jd to 5d ; light and medium, 4jd to 4Jd ; cow, to 4sd ; stags', 2|J to 3d ; kip, to 4d; calf, 5d to s|d per lb. Sheepskins, in full supply, sold at slightly under previous prices. Large, 4s 6d to 5s 2d ; small and medium, 2s 6d to 4s each ; pelts, lOd to Is ; lambs', lOd to Is 4d. Tallow : Best rendered, 19a to 21s per cwt. Hair : Horse tail, best, Is 5d to Is 6d ; cow-tail, 9d to lid per lb ; tails, Is lid per doz. Wool : On account of the wet weather experienced, wool is not coming in very freely. The various lots received to date are well grown. We regret to report that prices for coarse wools are not so firm since our last report. Maize : As the Sydney boat left this port before the arrivals from the East Coast, the supply ws in excess of requirements, and the market eased down to 2s 9d on wharf. Oatc.r.the market is still very Sim, with a strong upward tendency. B grade is to-day quoted at 2a 3d ex store. Potatoes, fair-seized parcels arrived this week, but quotations are unaltered, viz., £2 2s ex wharf, £2 ssex store,, Chaff, no alteration, price being £2 at rail. Cheese, on account of heavy shipments being made to London from all ports, the market is very firm at to 4|d per lb for large sizes. Butter, prime factory ia selling freely at lid ; second quality, lOd per lb. Dairy butter is not in so good demand ; current rates are 6d to 7d per lb.
