AUCKLAND NEWS.
(by telegraph—press association). Auckland, Last Night. The Mariposa Gold Mining Company crushed 258 tons of ore for gold to the value of £203. At the inquest on the body of a male infant newly-born, found on the cliffs in Mechanic's Bay behind some pine trees wrapped up, a verdict of death from neglect at birth was returned. The privileges for the Auckland Racing Club's Meeting realised £650 as against £577 last year. A Prisoner's Aid Society is to be established on Church of England lines, hut to help prisoners of all creeds. Mr Hector Simpson intends to contest the Marsden seat.
