TnE French and Russian press are persistently advocating the extension of the Russian sphere of influence in the Persian Gulf. London, I ctober 26. The East Indian squadron has been concentrated near the Persian Gulf, while the Mediterranean fleet assembled at Malta. The Channel squadron is proceeding to Gibraltar. There are signs of the mobilisation of the reserve fleet. The Italian squadron is concentrating at Spezzia, owing to the movements on the part of the French fleet in the Levant, and the Russsian Black Sea fleet." The Times discredits the alarming reports of the continental combination.
