T« Waixato AbousOwiok, Monday. MR W. J, HUNTER*3 CAMBRIDGE S \LE. A kew weeks ago we slated that Mr W. J. Hunter had broken his record for home bales at Cambridge, ami now we have the pleasure of announcing that on Saturday last he established a record for his cattle sales at the same place, the occasion being his annual spring cattle «ale. The yards were full to overflowing, and more than the number advertised was penned and disposed of. The whole of the animals offered were purely local, and it must be encouraging to the farmers to see so many of their young stock going out of the district. The sale was a record one in more respects than the sue of it, for most of the cattle were of grand quality, the prices realised were large, and the attendance was altthat could be desirid. Buyers were present from Te Mata, Piako, Woodlands, Glen Murray, Waingaro, Awakino, and all parts of the district. Messrs Kelly, McNeish and Irvine, of Awakino, bought no less than 300 head to take to their places. The prices were as follows : Strong calves and yearlings, mixed sexe*, 25s to 35s ; a line of yearlings, mixed sexes, made £1 17s; yearling steers. np to £2 2s 6d ; some 18 months steera from Mr Mataon brought £2 17s, and 40 speyed heifer*, of a like age, from Mr W. T. Carr, made from £1 17s to £2 4s Two year olds (mixed sexes), made from £2 5s to £2 15s; a choice lot of steera of this age from Mr A. Bailey brought £3 10s, and another lot from Mr F. Hicks made £3 2s 6d. Two and ahalf year-old steers brought from £3 Is to £3 10s, but they had hardly been done aa well as some of the others. A choice lot of bullocks from Mr W. Thornton brought £5 10s, and fat cows made from 64 lis to £5. About 50 dairy cows and heifers were yarded and nearly all sold ; the cows made up to £4 18s and the heifera to £4 15s. A number of sheep was also disposed of ; fat ewes went for 10* 6d, and eweß and lambs for a shilling leas. Young pigs brought from 9s 6d to I4s and larger ones (four months old) made 18a. We congratukte Mr Hunter on th« success of his sale, and are pleased to learn that with one solitary exception, every pen offered was scld. AUCKLAND MARKETS.
