The Labour party, he said, would re« solutely resist any proposal for the payment of men volunteering for service in the Transvaal.

(by telegraph.—press association). Wellington, Last Night.

A number of volunteer officers in Wellington has discussed the question of t|ie udvisableness of offering to raise a detachment in Wellington for service in South Africa, and has decided that there is no necessity to take steps in that direction just at present.
