(by telegraph—press association). Wellington, Last Night. A case U being heard before Judge Edwards and a Kpecial jury, in which W. J. Hall, labourer, claims £SOO damages from the Union S.S. Company. The plaintiff was stowing timber on the Rotorua, when the sling fell, and he sustained injuries which necessitated the ampufation of his leg. The Company pleads that the accident was not caused l.y their uegligencc, and that if the sling was defective the plaintiff should have noticed it. The case was uot concluded when the Court roe fur the day.
