ACCLIMATISATION SOCIETY.
The usual meeting of the Auckland Acclimatisation Society was held on Wednesday. The monthly financial statement was read by the secretary and showed a satisfactory balance. It wan reported that the shooting licenses amounted to £33 less than last year. The curator's monthly report was read, recerding the operations of the month at Waimakariri hatchery. Certain improvements were sanctioned by the committee, under conditions, _ and a was provided for clearing the ~ buifks of the river and having them sown down in grass. Several applications were received from local bodies and various private persons for trout fry, which were considered and referred to the Fish Committee.
A constable in the Waikato district put in a claim for the usual reward, having secured a conviction under tho Animals Protection Act. It was agreed topay it.
